Weightlifter Mirabai Chanu gave India its first medal at the #TokyoOlympics—a silver in the 49kg category.
Chanu is only the second lifter in India’s Olympic history to win a medal, after Karnam Malleshwari’s bronze at Sydney in 2000.
It was redemption today for the Manipuri who made a dramatic exit in the 2016 Olympics, and fought depression on her way to a World Championship gold, and now an Olympic silver.
